Ceres Farmstay

When we arrived at this home our starting point was the 12m by 4m Narellan pool with raised spa. Instantly our design attractions were focussed on maximising the striking vista over the rolling Ceres hills. Our design brief included a deck, sitting area and a nice lawn for the kids.

We put together two split-level decks; one for the spa and the other for the pool area. Levels create different zones and options for lounging, in what would otherwise be a flat expansive area. At spa level, we added a Coolum stone clad wall to help shelter the southerly aspect of the zone. We also added a split Cyprus post pool fence to help with the breeze and to add an element of design flair to the space.

For paving we went with Turkish travertine. We chose a large 800mm by 800mm square paver to address the large scale aspect of the job. From here we raised the lawn level to where the glass fence now sits, which creates a drop off from the pool level that looks like a vanishing edge.

Taking a relatively low budget, large space and our client’s wish list, we were able to create a family-friendly entertainer, while still blending in with the natural landscape of the property.
