The initial meeting with our client was to create something lush and resort-like that had to include a new pool and spa, fireplace and pool house.

On a wind-swept site we knew we had to create wind blocks where possible, which was done by adding an established waterhousea hedge on the pool lounge level. When designing the new pool and spa our brief was to create a resort-like feel. To do this we raised the new swimming pool and spa out of the ground by 1.2 metres, giving it an infinity edge. This gave the wow factor we were looking for with the pool and spa design. At either ends of the pool we added two large stone-clad planter boxes and planted established magnolia little gems. A blue pool tile was chosen in keeping with the resort feel.

Once the pool terrace was established we moved to the courtyard area to develop the new rustic fire place and BBQ areas. We used a filletti cobblestone to add to the rustic charm feel we were looking for.
