Courtyard landscaping and plunge pool installation in Ocean Grove
At King’s Gardens & Pools, we recently completed an exquisite courtyard landscaping and plunge pool project in a townhouse in Ocean Grove. The swimming pool was awarded ‘Best Courtyard Pool’ in Australia at the SPASA Awards in 2025.
The courtyard features elegant limestone crazy paving, utilised both for the main paving and the fireplace area, providing a cohesive and timeless look. A standout feature is the sunken lounge area with off form concrete seating. This area is furnished with waterproof and sun-resistant outdoor bench cushions and scatter cushions, offering comfort and durability. The courtyard includes a custom-built off form concrete BBQ with a convenient drinks fridge, making it the perfect spot for entertaining guests.
To add functionality and greenery, we incorporated a herb garden and built-in planter boxes. These features not only enhance the aesthetic but also provide fresh herbs for culinary use. The lush and ecclectic planting scheme is complemented by bamboo screening, creating a private and serene environment. For ease of maintenance and year-round beauty, the courtyard is equipped with automated irrigation and garden lighting, ensuring the plants thrive and the space is well-lit in the evenings.
Rather than dominating the space, the plunge pool doubles as a water feature or pond effect, adding to the natural elements around it including the Merbau deck, arbour and equipment screen. This combination of water and organic elements – timber, natural stone pavers, garden and lawn creates a calming and relaxing atmosphere.
Large feature olive trees in concrete planter boxes add a touch of Mediterranean charm and serve as focal points within the garden. A tranquil pond further enhances the courtyard, adding a soothing water element to the landscape.
