The design aims to complement the existing landscape features and provide a focal point for the backyard with its central location.

There were constraints to work around including a large existing deck, a manhole easement and a small backyard. However small spaces mean you can deliver high-impact features, which came in the way of a curved spa and stone clad feature wall on top of the shell, spanning the entire length of the pool.

The natural pool location was elevated to fit in with the existing deck. This provided a starting level and seamless transition from the outdoor entertaining area to the pool, which was key for the family. The location also meant they could have a larger pool without needing to remove an existing hedge or be impacted by the easement.

The curved spa softens the angles of the pool and became a feature of the design. Among the material selection was the pure white Sandhill recycled glass tile, with a unique matt finish. This look created a fresh and classic palette, pairing perfectly with the other natural materials; hardwood decking and large stone-clad feature wall, which also acted as the pool fence, providing privacy and a wind break.

Multiple ledges were great for their young children to safely play and handy for supervising adults. With in-floor cleaning, auto top-up and home automation, this pool has low-maintenance amenities, with high-value impact for this busy family’s life.
